Here is why this was rejected. This was actually a feature a few months ago after release. We found that the main point for downloading parts of the torrent was to squeeze under the limit of 100gb, which would make the limit irrelevant. Now if you want to download a 500gb torrent on a cheaper plan, you could download 100gb at a time using 5 different downloads of the torrent.
If I did do this it adds a ton of complexity to the system, as well as basically remove the caching system in place. It also lead to problems with private torrents showing up twice as to get metadata (file data) for torrents, you have to technically add the torrent to the client and begin the download. This counted as ratio download for some people.
Due to this, it can actually take a considerable amount of time to get all that file data, which can add a lot of time to a process that should be done in less than a second (adding torrents to your torbox). The last main problem is that it also destroys the look of the UI as well as just being a UI nightmare. All of a sudden now you have a list of 300 files and folders to select from and implementing that and making it look good would take way too many hours. I implemented this once already to try it out, and it absolutely sucked balls.
tldr: I see it as a way to play the system and isn't worth my time to develop and fix bugs for it and ruining other's experience to save yourself a few bucks. I know there are legit reasons to want this, but as the sole developer Id rather put time into actually good features. I hope this explains this without making me look like a greedy owner, but that is part of the reason too, TorBox needs money to survive, if you want bigger files, upgrade, its better for everyone that way.
